CrossFit Bound Athlete of the Month: Julian Daza

A demanding career and a busy family life haven’t kept Julian from making his health a priority. He brings consistency and a positive attitude to Bound, and he’s proudest of something we can all learn from: showing up. This month, we’re celebrating Julian and the example he sets for his family and our community.

1. Tell us a little about yourself—your family, your professional life, and what brought you to CrossFit Bound.

I am originally from Cali, Colombia, and I moved to the USA back in 2000. We are a family of four: my wife Carolina, my son Sebastian, my daughter Valerie, and me. I have been in sales for the last 11 years and started CrossFit back in November 2025. My hobby is mountain biking, but I have honestly not been doing much of it the last year or so.

2. Between family responsibilities and a demanding career, how do you make fitness a consistent part of your week?

I made a commitment almost two years ago to show up to the gym at least 5–6 times a week, and I have kept that promise. I guess it just slowly became part of my daily routine, and it’s non-negotiable.

3. On the days when work is stressful or your schedule is packed, what helps you show up and get your workout in?

Honestly, I don’t even think about it that much. Like I said before, it became part of a routine, and I just show up. Obviously, the energy may not always be the same, but once I’m at the gym, I just get moving.

4. How does training affect the energy, patience, and focus you bring to your family and your work?

Since I started training consistently, I have definitely seen an increase in energy and focus in a very positive way.

5. You bring so much positivity to the gym. What helps you maintain that attitude throughout the day, and how do you reset when you’re having a tough one?

When I am at the gym, I try not to really think about anything else but to focus on the workout. I have learned to concentrate on what’s being done at the moment and to maintain a positive attitude.

6. What habits outside the gym help you stay energized and ready for everything your day demands?

Having better sleep is key. I have been trying to go to bed earlier. Also, nutrition is key, and that is something I am still working towards getting better at.

7. What do you hope your family learns from seeing your commitment to your health and fitness?

Only positive things, for sure. They are learning by example and understand the importance of being disciplined. We are all active and hope to keep it that way.

8. What accomplishment at Bound are you most proud of, and what role has the community played in keeping you motivated?

I am most proud of just showing up every day, and it makes it easier knowing there’s a cool group of people at the gym.

9. What would you tell another busy parent or professional who feels like they don’t have the time or energy to prioritize fitness?

I would say to start small and escalate with time. The truth is that even a 2–3 day commitment is a big start, and once one starts feeling better, it becomes easier and easier to show up. Make a commitment and stick to it.

Congratulations, Julian! Thank you for the energy you bring to Bound and for showing what a commitment to your health can look like alongside work and family.
