2026 CrossFit Bound Intramural Open Recap

The 2026 CrossFit Bound Intramural Open delivered everything we love about this event—high energy, relentless effort, and a community that shows up for each other week after week.

Over three weeks, athletes were tested across multiple domains of fitness, pushing limits and creating moments that will stick with us long after the final scores were tallied.

🏆 Final Team Standings

This year’s competition came down to the wire, with an incredibly tight race at the top.

  1. Team 4 – 1610.5

  2. Team 3 – 1605.5

  3. Team 1 – 1274.75

  4. Team 2 – 1099.25

Just 5 points separated first and second place, showing how every rep, every second, and every athlete mattered.

🌟 Standout Moments & Honorable Mentions

The leaderboard tells part of the story—but the real impact of the Open is seen in personal breakthroughs, firsts, and major milestones.

  • Hannah Spratlen – Completed all workouts RX for the first time. A huge leap forward.

  • Haley Cooper - Completing 2 out of 3 workouts Rx for her 1st CrossFit Open

  • Emily Conaster – Finished her first Open as an RX athlete, stepping into a new level of competition.

  • Grayson Young – Completed his first Open, finishing 7th in his division—an incredible debut.

  • Susan Abell – Achieved her first pull-up, a milestone that represents months of hard work.

  • Hope Haugh – In her first Open workout, finished inside the Top 10 females at CrossFit Bound.

  • Sam Joering – Signed up and completed her first Open just 3 months into her CrossFit journey.

  • Natalie Gordon – Massive improvement, jumping from 1519th in 2025 to 487th in 2026 in the Female 45–49 division.

  • Grant Griffin – Improved over 100 spots worldwide, finishing 578th in the world.

  • Cole Scott – Finished 889th in the world—Top 1000 globally is a huge accomplishment.

💪 Grit, Strength & Community

Some performances go beyond numbers:

  • Nicole Corey, Melanie, and Sydney—all completed every workout, with Nicole doing so while pregnant and still finishing consistently in the Top 10. Truly incredible.

    • Honorable mention for Fefe Lawler - choosing not to do the Open but giving her time to come in to support and judge weekly.

  • Miles Pettit – Completed all 3 workouts while balancing life with Jenni and welcoming his girls into the world. Perspective and perseverance at its finest.

  • Mary Lubbers – Continues to show up, lead by example, and prove that age is just a number.

🏅 Competitive Excellence

  • Jen Wells – Qualified for her 3rd trip to the Semifinals in the Adaptive CrossFit Games Division. An elite-level achievement and an inspiration to the entire community.

Another episode from Wod Science about Threshold training. Threshold training has reshaped endurance sports ever since it was popularized by unbelievable athletes like the Ingebrigtsen brothers and the Norwegian triathletes. In this video, I dive into the science of how to detect your own physiological threshold - using both sophisticated tools and simple, practical methods - and I explain how to apply these insights to functional sports like HYROX and CrossFit. Is collapsing on the floor after every AMRAP really the best way to make long-term progress?


Recipe of the Week: Lean Garlic Herb Steak & Roasted Veggies

Serves: 4 | Time: ~35 minutes
Nutrition Highlights (per serving approx.)

  • Protein: 35–45g

  • Carbs: 20–30g

  • Lower fat option while still packed with flavor

Instructions

  1. Roast the Veggies

    • Preheat oven to 425°F

    • Toss veggies with olive oil + seasonings

    • Roast 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway

  2. Cook the Steak

    • Pat steak dry, season with salt & pepper

    • Heat skillet over medium-high heat with olive oil

    • Cook 3–4 minutes per side (adjust for thickness)

  3. Add Flavor

    • Reduce heat, add garlic, herbs, and butter (optional)

    • Baste steak for 1–2 minutes

  4. Rest & Serve

    • Rest steak 5 minutes, slice against the grain

    • Serve with roasted veggies

Ingredients

For the steak:

  • 2 lbs lean sirloin or flank steak

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt & pepper (to taste)

  • 2 tbsp butter (optional, for flavor)

  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)

  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary or thyme

For the veggies:

  • 2 cups broccoli florets

  • 2 cups baby potatoes (halved) or swap for sweet potatoes or squash

  • 1 cup carrots (sliced)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt, pepper, garlic powder
