Cole Scott - Athlete of the Month

Cole Scott - March Athlete of the Month

This month we’re recognizing one of our athletes who has fully embraced the process of getting better every day—both in and out of the gym.

Originally from Kennesaw, GA, he works as a project manager for a commercial general contractor and has been part of the CrossFit Bound community for just over a year. Like many in the CrossFit world, he first discovered the sport through the CrossFit Games documentaries, and the competitive spirit of the sport quickly hooked him.

After a lifetime of playing sports growing up, competition has always been part of his DNA. Over the past year he’s leaned more into competitive training, pushing himself beyond the class leaderboard and into local competitions and Open workouts.

His biggest accomplishment recently? Deadlifting 500 lbs for the first time—but he’s just as proud of the progress he’s made in gymnastics, an area that once challenged him but now shows huge improvement. A year ago, a workout like Open 26.2 might have been a struggle to finish—now it’s a test he’s ready for.

Balancing training with a demanding career and being newly married isn’t always easy, but with the support of his wife he often starts his days early so evenings can be dedicated to training.

His typical training week includes four to five days of strength and conditioning work, with longer sessions that combine strength work and metcons, plus an extra cardio day and a well-earned Sunday rest.

When it comes to favorite movements, power cleans top the list—but ring muscle-ups still keep him humble.

His advice to athletes thinking about taking their training more seriously:
Spend time practicing skills outside of class programming. Even 15 minutes a couple times a week can make a big difference, especially when movements like muscle-ups show up in competition.

What he appreciates most about CrossFit Bound is the community—and the ability to train hard alongside others who are committed to improving.

Please join us in congratulating our Athlete of the Month! 👏

1: Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from, what do you do for work, and how long have you been at CrossFit Bound?
- From Kennesaw, Ga and I’m a project manager for a commercial GC. I have been at bound just over a year.

2:What originally brought you into CrossFit?
- I became aware of Crossfit from the games documentaries when they were on netflix. Then finally tried a gym out in covid because it was first to open back up. 3:This past year you’ve focused more on competitive

training. What motivated you to take that step?
- I think competing on some level was always what drew me to Crossfit. Whether thats the open, class leaderboard, or a local comp its hard to give up competition when i spent my whole childhood playing sports.

4:What progress or accomplishments are you most proud of over the last year?
- I was happy to deadlift 500 for the first time, but most of my progress has been made in gymnastics. I think if i did 26.2 a year ago i would have been close to not finishing.

5:How do you balance competitive training with your career and being newly married?
- Outside of my amazing wife who so supportive, its often getting to work early so i have the evenings to focus on training.

6: What does a typical training week look like for you right now?
- typically training mon-wed and fri-sat for about two hours consisting of strength and metcons. Thursday a cardio piece and rest sundays.

7:Favorite movement or workout? And one that still humbles you every time?
- favorite movement is power cleans, and rmu are humbling.

8:What advice would you give to someone thinking about taking their training more seriously or competing?
- Skills practice outside of programming helped me alot when learning gymnastics. 15 min a couple times a week after class could go a long way next time muscle ups are in the open.

9:What does being part of the CrossFit Bound community mean to you?
- being apart of the community has been great and am glad i joined after moving back to the area. I also appreciate the ability to train in the corner
